Nassau, Bahamas

A recent trip to the Bahamas was truly a rejuvenating experience for my husband and I. It marked our inaugural visit to an all-inclusive resort, an experience that left us thoroughly impressed. We opted for a four-night stay at Sandals Royal Bahamian in Nassau, Bahamas, with Delta Airlines handling our flight. Departing from Louisville, Kentucky at 10:48 a.m., we had a brief layover in Atlanta before touching down in paradise by 4:30 p.m. Upon clearing customs, the attentive Sandals staff was ready to escort us to the resort, with complimentary airport transportation provided. The resort's convenient location just 15 minutes away from the airport made our journey from Louisville, Kentucky to Nassau, Bahamas smooth and hassle-free. We were so excited for our first Bahamian vacation to begin!

Upon our arrival at the resort, we were greeted by additional staff offering champagne, cookies, and cool towels. While our luggage was taken to our room, we proceeded with the check-in process. A resort concierge then escorted us to our Luxury level room, providing us with valuable information to enhance our stay. Despite not opting for the pricier club level or butler level accommodations, our room boasted a balcony with a stunning view of the Western Atlantic Ocean. The stocked refrigerator included wine, beer, soda, water, and juices, all complimentary as part of the all-inclusive package. With unlimited dining options at 10 restaurants and two food trucks, we dined at all but two establishments, all of which offered excellent cuisine. The resort also featured seven impressive swimming pools, an offshore island, and a variety of daily activities. To unwind, my husband and I indulged in a massage and pedicure at the Red Lane Spa, at an additional cost, but well worth the relaxation.

Every team member we encountered at Sandals Royal Bahamian exhibited professionalism, friendliness, and helpfulness. They all excelled in ensuring that our stay was exceptional! Our accommodation was impeccably clean and contemporary, just like the entire premises! During our brief four-night stay, we didn't venture outside the resort grounds. However, on our next trip, we plan to extend our stay and incorporate some excursions. I wholeheartedly recommend Sandals Royal Bahamian to any friend or family member seeking a pleasant, rejuvenating escape! Please note that this resort caters exclusively to couples, with guests required to be at least 18 years old.

Know Before You Go

  • Reach out to your mobile phone carrier and add an international pass for the expected length of stay. With Verizon, this is only $10/day per phone.

  • Go out early (by 0700) and place a towel and maybe a water or other personal belonging in the pool chairs that you desire for the day, as they are first come first serve and will be taken quickly!

  • If you are planning to visit the private island for the day, be in line by 0915, if you plan to take the first shuttle at 1000. The line for the first shuttle gets long very quickly! Take towels, sunblock, hats, and sunglasses with you to the private island.

  • A couple of the restaurants require reservations for the evening meal. They tend to book up quickly, so ask, your concierge to help you book desired reservations upon check in. Remember, for the restaurants requiring reservations, men must wear pants and a nice shirt and women must wear a nice outfit and flip flops are not aloud for anyone. This only applies to the evening meal. Otherwise wear resort casual.

If you are dreaming of a romantic getaway in a serene paradise, look no further. You deserve a peaceful retreat where you can unwind and create unforgettable memories with your loved one. From luxurious accommodations to exquisite dining experiences, this place has it all.

Update:

Since my original post, we have gone to this resort a second time. The initial visit left such a positive impact that we decided to go again. We like that this resort is fairly close to the United States and is pretty quick and easy to get to. Sandals Royal Bahamian sits only 15 minutes from the airport. The two white sand beaches and calm, clear water have us mesmerized. The private off-shore island is a must, but get in line early so you can get good seats. The dining options at this resort offer a wide variety of choices. The food has been great here. There are eight bars at this Sandals Resort, three of which are swim-up bars! The first visit we stayed in the Luxury Level East Bay Ocean View Room. The second visit, we splurged and go the Club Level West Bay Swim-up Room. We have no complaints at all about either room! I would definitely book this resort again in the future.

Wander often, Wonder always,

~Shannon
